Staying in Shape with a Time Saving Workout
I know we hear this kind of politically correct psychobabble all the time, but when it comes to what motivates you, you are unique. What works for me may not work for you. Today we’re going to talk about a motivation technique that absolutely does not work for me, but there are plenty of other people it does work for, and if you’re one of them, this might turn out to be your secret to staying in shape.
Are you Time Oriented
Some of us are more time oriented than others. We want to be in shape but we hate taking time away from what we see as more important activities: job, family, friends and even leisure time (which is important for our mental health).
If you’re one of these folks, have you considered turning your commute in to your workout? Riding a bike or running to and from work can give you a fantastic cardio workout, save money, save you the frustration of dealing with rush hour traffic and allow you to start your work day with an endorphin rush, all while feeling that you haven’t taken time away from more important things.
Phone Apps
There are some great tracking apps for your phone too that will automatically keep tabs on your times and trace your route. The better ones will even automatically deduct stationary time, such as time spent at stop lights, so obstructions that are beyond your control won’t interfere with tracking your progress.
Finally, there’s the benefit that you get to feel smug at the office, watching everyone else come in to work already stressed from dealing with rush hour traffic, while you’re calm and riding high on endorphins, dopamine and oxytocin. Oh, and then there’s that bit about being in better shape. That part is good too.
